Carowinds Trip
We are leaving from Evans Middle. (Located on Herford Farm Rd.) Buses load starting at 7am, leaving at 7:30am.
Band Concert

Starts at 7:00. (or as soon as the chorus concert ends, which starts at 6:00)
Students should report at 6:40-6:45

Band Concert
Our final band concert of the year is next Thursday. Students should report at 6:45. Concert starts at 7:00.
Dress - green band shirt and black pants / shoes.
Thomas Newton, Percussionist
Congratulations to my student, Thomas Newton. He won the young artist competition to perform with the Augusta Symphony. He performed Ney Rosauro’s Marimba Concerto #1.
Spring Concert
Our spring concert will be May 14th.
Instead of splitting up the 6th grade band/chorus, etc. the format will be:
6:00 - chorus concert.
7:00 - 6th, 7th, 8th grade band concert.
The chorus will try to finish by 6:45. Band students should report at 6:45. The concert will start at close to 7:00 as possible, and we should finish by 7:35. Thank you for your support!

Music in Movies and More!
I hope you enjoyed our class today. I’ve wanted to do a lesson on Music in Movies, TV, and video since the beginning of the year. Unfortunately we ran out of time today, so maybe we can finish another day. 
Two of the artists we talked about today are Diana Krall and Chris Botti. Both of them released new albums yesterday! Search on iTunes and you can listen to their music.
Also, search for podcasts, and you can find a variety of topics on music education.
Have a nice Spring Break! I look forward to seeing you after the break.

Beginning Honor Band
Congratulations to the students who participated in the 10th District Beginning Honor Band on Saturday March 28th. Top students from local middle schools formed a concert band which was directed by guest clinician Laura Webb from Atlanta, GA.

Carowinds
Information about our Spring trip to carowinds was passed out on Friday to our 7th & 8th grade. We are excited about the trip, which is planned for May 16.
When the permission forms are passed out, you’ll want to respond quickly, because SPACE IS LIMITED.
Checks should be made out to GMS.
